Part II : While Daddy was Hunting...

The cafe at the Lewis and Clark Resort where we enjoy meals occasionally. You can sit by the big fireplace with the moose head above it to eat.
A view of the park which is a tribute to a Native American tale about the 'Heart of the Monster" which is the brown pointy hill you see on the right. There is a little outdoor 'theater' to sit and listen to a recording of the tale which is where I've taken this photo from and then after you follow a concrete path down to that small group of trees, you can sit and push a button on a post and listen to the tale down there.
A 2 year old can only spend so much time inside a tent trailer before he starts wanting to play with the knives, air freshener, coffee pot and instant oatmeal packets - so, over the road to the park we'd go where I'd set him loose. Most of the time he'd say " Hold hand Mom." But there were a couple of times he wanted to let go and squeal like the Little Piggy All the Way Home.
With outstretched arms he'd yell, "Weeeeeee, wee, wee, weeeeeee!" and run down the path. Then turn around and do the same thing back to me.
A board in the parking lot at the Lewis and Clark Resort got a lot of attention from the kids.
Oh, and let me not forget to tell you about the chickens. There was flock of about 25 chickens that took over the campground. Handy for cleaning up messes left behind by campers. Not so handy when they then pooped the scraps back out all over your picnic table, benches, door step and area outside your trailer. Gross! They were beautiful, some Araucanas, Turkens, Rhode Island Reds, Wyandottes and I think there were a few Faverolles but the rooster would stand up on one of the tables around 6 each morning and start crowing which never failed to be the one thing to wake up Little J. The photo above is of the campsite of three of the people that were hunting with us and as soon as they'd leave their campsite in the morning, the chickens would rush to congregate on top of their table and chairs and a couple tried to sit on their camp stove.
The resort staff was working on rounding up the chickens and getting them confined to a pen but by the time we left to come home - that job had still not been completed.

Leave it to a former 4H Poultry Person of the Year to actually NAME the breeds of chickens congregating at the campground!Good job Autumn.

Little J is so cute, weeeeeeee...all the way up and down the trail. What a fun time you all had, and so many of the best memories for you and the children to cherish all your/their lives. This makes my heart happy.

Cute pics of little J. Sometimes it doesn't take much to entertain those little ones.

It always amazes me how much Joey and Hunter are alike, it must be because they are both 2 year old little boys. We took him to see his mommy at work (the mall) and he ran the whole thing( a toddler run) Thanks for the pictures.

I love the pictures of little J. All that spontaneous enthusiasm and joy and energy!

Looks like a lovely spot. I'd be a bit bothered by the chickens on the table though! YIKES! :-)
