Spring Break

My nieces were all going on Spring break from school and my Mom was planning to spend the week with them. My husband asked if the kids and I would like to make the trip over there too so we decided to just go for it. It had been over 2 years since I'd been over to visit my brothers so I was excited for a chance to go. The above photo is my four kids with my brother's four girls - all standing in order by age. 12, 11, 10, 10, 8, 8, 6 and 3 years old.
When you take your kids to town, it's a good idea to tie them all to the hitching post. You never know when one of them will want to run off.
There was lots to do during our stay with my brother and his daughters. Little J found some trucks in the yard of an abandoned house across the road so he got busy washing them up in the pile of snow still hanging around.
There was 'Grandma's' dog Bea to walk,
Cousins to make lunch with and for,
and wild turkeys outside the kitchen window to watch.
Easter Sunday we all went over to my youngest brother's house where his wife made a terrific dinner for us all. They'd also bought 2 pinatas for the kids.
This was Little J's favorite part of the whole week.
My brother built, by hand, a cattle shute and the kids enjoyed pretending to be cows running through it and Little J would pull the lever to open the shute and let them all out.
Here's my sister in law's father's horse 'Austin' which for some reason Little J called 'Snowbell' the whole time. He was really excited to get on that horse.
Easter Sunday both of my brothers and sister in law took CT, myself and one neice out shooting.
Here CT is showing his cousin how to shoot his shotgun. All of us really enjoyed our break away from the rain of the Pacific Northwest and time to visit, play and work with family. All of the kids get along so well and I always love hanging out with my little brothers!

Do you want to give a liberal Democrat a heart attack? Let them see you teaching your kids how to shoot! Yes, let them! :D What a wonderful collection you have there. The hitchin' post is a good idea, and maybe the cow shoot when you need to corral them. I know your mom was thrilled to have you all together. Glad you went!

I love that photo of the kids all in a line, they are like little stair steps. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit and some great family time. :)
