Well, Summer finally arrived in our little state of Washington. It's been in the 8o's for over a week now and supposed to hit into the 90's over this weekend. That meant lots of people heading up to the mountains to spend the Labor Day weekend. We headed there ourselves to do some camping and possible grouse hunting.
We were introduced to this lake by a friend. The kids really enjoyed swimming in it as it wasn't real deep and was so clear. There were lots of crawdads to catch too.
We stayed in a new campground. Always fun to check out new places to camp and compare them to the usual ones. The weather was perfect. We did a little up hill hiking with the kids and dogs and chased after a grouse, looked for ripe huckleberries ( season was too late again this year and the berries still green ) and did a little fishing.
Now, as most kids are back to school and folks are getting ready for fall, I'm glad we homeschool our kids so we can enjoy the summer weather - as late as it may be and continue on with our outdoor activities. We will, I'm sure, have 9 months of fall/ winter weather coming up shortly to stay in and get book learned and such so I'm not wasting time on that right now - there's so much to learn about God's creation just by being out in it and so many lessons to pick up and hold on to for our future and the kids' future. We will continue to rejoice in what we've been given and to pray for those in other states suffering through miserable times. Taking note here to not take for granted what we have.

I remember & cherish those days we had with you and your brothers, camping in the Indian Summer weather while most kids were back in their school buildings. Nothing better and more healthy than to explore God's creation when He gives such great weather. Also works for clearing the mind, and allowing us to appreciate each other as a family.
We are going to have to check out that campground ourselves.
Looks like a beautiful place to enjoy! It is great to be able to pick up and go whenever it's nice out! Even if it is a little late, lol!
Glad to see you getting some warm weather to enjoy more outings. We camped a lot as our kids were growing up. One of the benefits of homeschooling was the freedom of timing. I only wish other parents would educate themselves on the facts of homeschooling! It is a wonderful life alternative!

What a beautiful spot! I love that lake--so pretty and the water is so clear. Looks like a great place to spend time with your family.
Your children are growing up so fast! I consider it a joy (little play on words there - A. Joy) to watch them grow, play and be such interesting individuals - y'all are doing a good job!
