Vacation!

We took off for our family vacation last week. A road trip down to California to visit friends, family and Disneyland! I don't know if I was more excited for Disneyland or to leave our cold, wet weather behind and see some sunshine! I packed enough shorts and tank tops for all of us. We left home on Saturday around 11 am and reached our halfway point, Redding, CA, around 7 pm looking for dinner. Anyone up for 'CRISP MEAT' at Taco Time? C'mon, it's only $1 ! Hmmm... Tempting, but .... no. We ate at a steak house instead then checked into a motel 6 for the night.

Leaving the motel 6 around 7 am we headed south to Diamond Bar, CA to visit some hunting buddies and their dog 'Jedi' who is from the same lines as our black lab, Chelan. Here the kids pose with the brothers and Jedi and a giant lemon they picked from the neighbors tree. We brought the lemon home and CT wants to make lemonade.

We were amazed by their hospitality as they gave us their bedrooms to sleep in, cooked us a huge breakfast the next morning and showed us a good time.

Right after we arrived at their house they took us over to Newport Beach. Unfortunately we brought along our Washington clouds, wind and rain so we kept our pants and sweatshirts on and enjoyed the beach OUT of the water. Then they took us to an amazing place to eat at Huntington Beach. 'Sushi On Fire'. A very casual and family friendly setting with terrific staff and the best sushi and soup we've ever had!

We only stayed one night at their house and the next day after breakfast they took us over to a big park and taught the kids how to play tennis and let them drive their really cool remote control car that runs on gasoline! Then for lunch they took us out to a Chinese restaurant where little J fell asleep while we thought he was looking out the window - for a little too long , a little too quietly.

We then said our goodbyes and left for the 30 minute drive to our next destination - Disneyland!
