Birthday for the Oldest

Our oldest son had his birthday the day after the family reunion. He chose to have a low key day and invited his cousin of the same age to come out to stay the night. He always looks forward to spending time with this cousin. They started the day off by sharing some gourmet root beers given to CT by his Auntie, set up the tent in the yard, worked on a few things in the yard, swam in the neighbor's big pool and just did boy stuff.
CT wanted barbecue steak, chicken, rice, salad and pot stickers for his birthday dinner and for the cousins ( who are staying at my folks house one mile down the road ) to come over. We had all that and then cups of ice cream and we lit up the fire pit and made s'mores. A few of the neighbor kids joined us as well.
The kids all played outside well after dark and then after the gang left for home, CT and his boy cousin went out to the tent to watch DVDs and sleep. Seemed like a nice birthday to me! Fun without too much fuss. Happy Birthday Son! ( CT with 'Grandma and Grandpa' )
