Plans for Projects

The plan was to let our oldest son get two or three cows once we got settled into our new place and keep them in the pasture.  For the past several years the hay from the pasture has been mowed down by the neighbor and sold to the local FFA chapter.  We plan to feed our cows with it.  The plan has been put on hold due to some unexpected bills but since we were given all the supplies for the fencing, we're going ahead with putting the fence up across the field to separate that from the house.  We'll get that done within the month.  We'll also need a shelter for the cows so we'll be figuring out how to construct that this year and hope to get the cows by next summer 2014.  Until then, we'll still need to either find someone to mow the hay in the pasture this summer because of the extreme fire danger it is or let the neighbor's horses graze on it.
The garden will be moving as well.  This is the garden that came with the house.  Three garden boxes on the side of the house.  I plan to move it ( with the kids' help ) to the back of the house and expand it and possibly put a fence around it - although, it'll be directly behind the dog yard so that may be enough to deter the deer that wander through.
I got some porch furniture from my Grandparent's house last week.  It fits nicely on the porch and we put our little fire pit in the middle and the kids were roasting marshmallows out there the other day.  The day I took these photos it was uncharacteristically warm and sunny.  We all sat out in our shirtsleeves drinking cocoa and reading on the porch in the sun.  It was great.  Caused the Spring fever to start in.
Yes, I'm showing off the junky part of my yard - the back of the house.   I plan to tear down the ugly wood shed on the right side there, build a nice tidy tool shed right next to the dog kennel on the left, put up a firewood shelter behind the shed and clean up all that scrap wood.  Well, whatever's left after I use some of it to build the tool shed.  It also seems I have one child who does love being in photos.  :)  All that and creating / reorganizing a decent laundry room in the current garage should keep me busy for the rest of this year!

Looks like a plan! A very good and achievable plan.Little 'J' will most certainly be in on everything to do with it, and while you & CT are building, KN will be cooking the meals and MN doing the laundry. Little 'J' will be the entertainment & comedy relief. ( maybe the go-for too ? )

Little 'J' showing up for all the pictures reminds me of your Grandpa & Grandma's dog Skipper, ask Aunt Tricia about him.

Wonderful projects you have planned. Making improvements and changes so that it's just the way you want it really makes your home feel like your own.
